There is no other way but to distance ourselves from America. Israel should no longer be dependent on a declining power.
US Vice President JD Vance, while speaking at one point regarding the challenges facing the deep friendship between the US and Israel, said that the American public's perspective on Israel is changing and Israel is losing its support among the American public. Everyone knows that the atrocities that Israel has inflicted on the people of Gaza and the way it has committed the massacre of innocents have created a very negative impression of Israel and especially the Netanyahu government in the entire West. You may remember that students from several American universities set up protest camps in favor of the suffering and oppressed people of Gaza, even getting beaten up.
Similarly, rallies were also held in London and other European capitals. There were no notable protests in Muslim countries, but the entire West was in full swing. People in the West are slowly becoming aware of the Jewish character, but this is not a new phenomenon. If we look at history, there is hardly a country in Europe from which Jews have not been expelled. The West is still afraid that if the Israeli state fails, the Jews will once again side with Europe, and this is unacceptable to the West. In view of this threat, the entire West stands behind the Israeli state in the Middle East.
The Jews are very clever and think very far. Recently, Major General Heyson, a leading member of a top Israeli think tank, wrote an article outlining the features of Israel's new doctrine regarding war and security in the coming days. In the opinion of Major General Heyson, there is only one country in the Middle East where there is democracy, which is a complete nation-state, and that country is Israel. Major General Heyson says that there is not a single country in the Middle East around Israel that meets the definition of a nation-state.
According to Heyson, most Arab countries are either a collection of different tribes, or these countries are a linguistic group unit. That is, in the Middle East, especially in the Arab countries, real democracy is nowhere to be seen and the people have no contact with the government or government affairs. Most Arab governments have no contact with the people and do not take any public aspirations into account. The Major General further said in his article that Israel should neither strive for peace in the region nor move towards a two-state solution.
This military member of Israel’s top think tank has said a shocking thing that is very difficult to believe. America has proven with every action it has taken so far that since the establishment of Israel, its security has been a very basic article of American domestic and foreign policy. America has always stood behind Israel not only itself but also encouraged its allies to provide Israel with all possible assistance. Due to America’s unconditional support, Israel has enjoyed an advantage and superiority over the countries in the surrounding region. It has never faced any shortage of the latest lethal weapons, nor has the country ever been in economic difficulty. In such a situation, the features of the Israeli general’s new security doctrine are shocking and surprising. He says that the situation is changing and the international landscape is changing very rapidly. In these circumstances, a new security doctrine is very important for Israel.
The fifth point of Major General Hessen’s article is very important. Under it, Israel has already started to see America as a declining power. He says that the Israelis have come to realize that America is no longer the world’s most dominant power and that its ability to assert itself on the international stage has suffered a huge dent. Major General Hessen has advocated that Israel should distance itself from America as soon as possible.
There is no other way but to distance itself from America. Israel can no longer rely on a declining power. If America, despite all its apparent superpower, cannot manage the changing scenario as it sees fit, if it cannot force Iran to bow down even after several attacks, then this is a huge question mark over American power, even though Iran has neither a significant navy nor an air force. In such a situation, America is a mere superpower and why should Israel rely on it? The Major General further said that very soon America will abandon Israel. Therefore, Israel should take the initiative.
Major General Hessen further wrote that until now, Israel has benefited from being under the American umbrella, while in the future, America will be a liability. In addition, American society is at odds with basic Jewish values. American society is a society of liberal values and patriarchal freedom where there is no moral code. Both of these things are at odds with Jewish values, so why should Israel care about an immoral society with declining power? This important member of the Israeli think tank concluded at the end of his article that Severing ties with the US is not only inevitable but essential so that Israel's independent status can be maintained and the tradition of resistance that exists among Jews can also be maintained.
If we look at it, for more than eight decades, America has had a tradition of taking measures solely on the basis of strength and power and not listening to anyone except Israel. China's emergence as a global power and the inevitable war with Iran have worked against American dominance. President Trump took office for the second time. As soon as he took office, he increased tariffs on the whole world, but when China imposed tariffs in response, President Trump began to loosen up. President Trump called Europe and Canada very slow. That is why when he needed the help of Europe and Canada in the war against Iran, the help did not come in the way the United States expected. The United States and Russia have been warring powers since the days of the Cold War. To endanger Russia, the borders of the European Union and NATO were brought closer to Russia. When Russia attacked Ukraine, the United States opened its weapons reserves to Ukraine and provided immense financial assistance, but when Russia did not back down, the United States began to withdraw its support with the Ukrainian president, and now President Trump is openly criticizing President Zelensky.
The United States is now tired of the Ukraine war and is trying to get Russia to stop this war. Earlier, sanctions were being imposed on Russia, while recently it has signed an agreement to purchase a large amount of diesel from Russia. President Trump has also said that he is ready for a summit with the presidents of Russia and China in the coming days. Until some time ago, India was being prepared to build a dam in the face of China's growing global influence, but now nothing is being heard in this regard. And during President Xi's visit to the United States, President Trump clearly gave the message that China is a rival power to the United States.
Whatever happens on the global level, the United States and Israel have a very close relationship and a very strong bond. Israel’s realization that it must adopt a new security doctrine and distance itself from the United States is a significant shift. Not long ago, it was unthinkable that voices within Israel would be heard to distance themselves from the United States. The suggestion by this senior Israeli military official that the United States is a declining power and that Israel must separate itself from the United States and assert its independent status is a significant development. The Israeli perception that the United States is losing its superpower status suggests that the days of American superpower are indeed numbered. However, the assumption that American power will soon end is a misjudgment. This edifice will fall gradually, and it may take decades.
The general elections in Israel are on October 27, and the American midterm elections are on November 4. Let’s see what the American and Israeli people decide.
